Riparia conducted a critique of the Visual Impact Assessment (VIA) completed for the Heartland Transmission Project. This critique involved assessing the VIA tools and methods used in the Application and compared them to the commonly practiced VIA tools accepted internationally. Riparia has knowledge and experience with the internationally accepted VIA methods and tools. An example of a VIA tool is a Viewshed Analysis, which Riparia completed for a small portion of the transmission line route (see above photos). Riparia also demonstrated the accepted visual principles in the context of the Applicant’s visualizations to illustrate their methodological errors and highlight the key considerations to achieve accurate representations of the visual impacts.
